Could Comic Related Campy Shows Survive On TV Today?

by Mourning Daily on April 7, 2014 at 1:30 PM
Posted In: Thoughts And Opinions

First Off, I Like Watching Adam West’s Batman. The Handful Of Episodes I have Watched Have Been Entertaining.

I Was Thinking That A “Campy” Superhero Show Would Have A Hard Time If It Was Produced Now A Days. Most Comic Book Related TV Shows Have To Be A Bit More Sexy And Serious To Be Successful Now.

Batman - Adam West

Could You Imagine A Newer Superhero Show Being “Campy” As The Adam West Batman Show? Do You Think That It Would Still Be As Good As It Is Now? Or Do You Think That The Show Would Be Canceled ASAP.

Lets Use Arrow As An Example. (Since It Is On TV Now.)

Arrow
Arrow – TV Series

Imagine Arrow’s Catch Phrase Would Be….. Golly Gee Fear Me More. Ha Ha Ha

Becoming “Campy” Would Ruin The Tough Guy Image That Arrow Has. The Whole Feel Of The Show Would Be Drastically Different. I Do Not Think That If It Was “Campy” It Would Survive With Today’s Audience. I Think That Cartoons Could Be The Only Way A “Campy” Comic Book Related Show Could Work Right Now.

Do You Think A “Campy” Comic Book Related Show Would Last With Today’s Audience?

Wanted – Ultimate Dream Vacation – Need Advice

by Mourning Daily on April 4, 2014 at 10:38 AM

I Love To Travel Within 1-10 Hour Driving Distance Of Charlotte, NC USA. Outside Of That I Normally Lose The Wandering Spirit. Mainly Because That Means I Will Have To Get On A Dreaded Airplane.

Being Confined In A Expensive, Flying Tin Can Is Not Exactly My Idea Of Part Of A Dream Vacation. However, I Want To Make A Awesome 5 Day Vacation Trip Before The End Of 2015. With That In Mind I Will Go On A Flying Tin Can.

Do You Have Any Grand Ideas For A 5 Day Vacation In The USA?

I Do Not Want To Go To A Souvenir Only Tourist Trap.  The Place Has To Have That “Wow You Have Arrived” feeling to it. I Am Thinking Along The Lines Of A Natural Park Or A Cruise In The Caribbean.

In The Past I Went To The Sequoia And Kings Canyon National Park. The Tin Can Ride Was Scary… But The Views Of The Parks Were Worth It.

In Keeping With The National Park Theme I Was Thinking About Going To Yellowstone Or The Grand Canyon. Keep In Mind My Plan Is To Only Have 3-4 Fun Exploring Days. The Other To Days Are For The Dreaded Tin Can Ride.

Now For The Big Questions……. Has Anyone Ever Been To Any Of Those National Parks?Which Park Is The Most Interesting To See In 3-4 days?

What Is The Best Time Of Year To Go? I Want To Avoid Going To Either Park If There Is Snow On The Ground. I Am Not Afraid Of Snow….. It Is Just The Thought Of Planes In The Snow And Ice That Makes Me Want To Choose A Different Time. Would You Go In The Beginning Of October? Or Do you think that Late May Is A Good Time To Go? Those Are The Best Times For Me To Get Off Work.

When Is The Best Time To See The Waterfalls At The Parks? Is There Any Place Near Those Parks That You Would Recommend Seeing As Well?

The Vacation Plan Is Not Set In Stone. I Could Add A Day Or Two Depending On What There Is To See. The Only Thing Set In Stone Is I Just Prefer To Stay In The USA. By Staying In The USA I Will Not Have To Worry About Currency Exchanges Or Language Barriers. If I traveled Outside The USA I Would Want To Go On A Cruise Or Guided Tour. (I Have Never Been On A Cruise Before.)

What Place Would You Recommend Other Than Yellowstone Or The Grand Canyon?

Thank You For The Advice. I Really Appreciate All Of The Helpful Input You Can Give Me.

Drawing – Gouldian Finch

by Mourning Daily on April 2, 2014 at 4:27 AM
Posted In: Artwork

I created a new drawing last night. It is not another “Sharpie Drawing”. (I bet you are relieved to hear that.)

I wanted to play with colored pencils this time. The other stipulation I made myself is that I did not want to draw a person.

I decided to draw a Finch in colored pencils. It was fun… and time consuming. (I color stuff faster in the computer program that I use.)

I started drawing a general shape of the Finch. I focused coloring the head and worked my way down. My favorite part of the drawing is the Finch’s Beak. (I like the colors there.) Then I made the branch and leaves. I decided not to push my luck at the background. I tend to over work my drawings when I get in the zone. After That I then scanned it and added the website on the bottom of the picture.

At the End pf this endeavor I learned that I was defiantly out of practice. I have been reliant on editing imperfections in the computer.  Hopefully this little test to get back to the basics will help me grow as an artist.

Back To The Drawing Board

by Mourning Daily on April 1, 2014 at 12:23 PM

When was the last time that you looked at your old works of art? I am talking about projects that are covered in dust because they have not seen the light of day in years. This past Saturday I spent a great deal of time look back at artwork memory lane.

Blue Girl

Old Drawing From My School Sketchbook

I noticed in my old works of art that I barely created anything on the computer. Traditional drawing and painting was what I seemed to enjoy. Then it seemed that one year I changed my creative process. At that time the only thing I drew on paper was references. Over all traditional art took a back seat.

Elemental Angel

Found In My Old School Sketchbook

Earlier this year I decided that I want to create more just for fun artwork. Now I think that I will literally get back to the drawing board and actually draw something on paper. I want to get out some color pencils and watercolors this week.

Unfortunately, I looked at my art supplies and found it lacking. The only colored pencils I have are the poor quality ones. I am not trying to make excuses. I will work with what I have until I can raid the art supply store. At least I have some watercolors left to play with. I will create something new tonight. I will post it tomorrow morning!
