I had to learn the hard way. Automatic filter programs do not always work. WordPress has a section to where you can block keywords in posts. It puts all of those posts in a to moderate folder.
I mark a ton of inappropriate stuff as spam. This helps me weed out repeat offenders.
For The most part I block all comments from being seen and i then approve what is related to my post.
